A Celebration of Life
Kenneth Michael “Mike” Ogg
January 26, 1948 – November 22, 2016

Kenneth Michael “Mike” Ogg, 68, passed away Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born January 26, 1948, in Bremerton, WA, to Ken and Eleanor Ogg. Mike graduated from Bremerton’s West High School in 1966, Olympic College and Central Washington University where he earned his business degree.

A passionate and accomplished golfer his whole life, Mike played on the golf teams of all the schools he attended. However, he always held as his greatest golfing feat winning the first annual Tim Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament, named after his best friend, Tim, who died the summer before their senior year in high school.
During his college career, Mike took time out to serve with the Army National Guard, making lifelong friends with many others in the group.

Mike met his wife Sandy in Bremerton, and they married in March, 1976. Shortly after, they moved to Kent.
Ever the hard worker, Mike willingly sacrificed his free time for his family. He cheerfully helped his wife, children, and grandchildren as well as their friends. Many young people fondly remember “Coach Mike” – coaching youth baseball and basketball for more than ten years.

A leader in the workforce, Mike managed multiple distribution warehouses, moving on to the masonry and stone business, where he enjoyed many close working relationships and lasting friendships. His emotional toughness and physical strength allowed him to continue working through his illness, even to the end of his earthly journey. We all marveled at his willingness to pull himself out of bed in the morning, but he looked forward to every single day – whether at work or play.

A rabid Washington Huskies fan, Mike held football season tickets for 25 years. Additionally, he loved spending time in Cannon Beach, OR, watching the ocean waves roll in and the people walk by. As often as he could, he played golf with both family and friends. And when he needed to sit and relax, he turned to music or a book, neither of which was ever far away. His reading interests were eclectic, but if he had to choose, he’d name crime novels as his favorite.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ken. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughters Breyn and Denise, and son, Will; four grandchildren Alex, Max, Julia, and Ella; his mother, Eleanor; and sister, Kristi.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held December 11th from 4:30-8:30 at Kitsap Golf and Country Club.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Multicare Tacoma General Hospital who were so kind and caring to the whole family during Mike’s many visits and stays.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Franciscan Hospice Foundation or the Tim Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament (c/o Kitsap Golf & Country Club).
